Travel along the picturesque Apollo Coast to Cape Sounion (less than 40 miles from Athens), where you will visit the Temple of Poseidon. Poseidon occupied a position in Athenian founding mythology second only to Athena herself. The temple was built in 440 BC. C., on the ruins of a temple dating from the Archaic Period. It rises above the sea at a height of almost 60 meters. It is possible that the architect who built the temple of Hephaestus in the Agora of Athens also designed this temple. The temple was built in the austere Doric style and is in memory of King Aegean who, according to legend, jumped to his death from a cliff, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea. Lord Byron, the poet, chose this temple to engrave his name on one of the columns in the 19th century and it can still be seen today. After the guided site tour, we will take the bus along the Athenian Riviera where after 30 minutes we will arrive at our designated restaurant to taste the core of Mediterranean cuisine. After we finish with lunch we will depart from Athens’ south suburbs and head towards your hotel. Accommodation : Titania hotel / 7 dbl/twin standard rooms on HB basis.

We will walk along the Via Sacra decorated with countless offerings from Greek and foreign cities, until we reach the Temple of Apollo. In addition to the statues, the cities dedicated so-called treasures to the god to house offerings in the form of small temples, such as the treasure of Sifnos, the treasure of Thebes or the treasure of the Athenians, which we will visit. In addition to the entire monumental complex, including the oracle fool, a visit to the Delphi Museum is an absolute must when you are there. It is one of the most important museums in Greece, it houses the works of art found in Delphi in a simple and pleasant way. We will go back three thousand years to visit the strategic enclave of the powerful Argolis, Mycenae, city of the Atrides cursed by the gods. Its impressive ruins evoke the memory of this fortress city from the 2nd millennium BC, 'rich in gold' in the words of Homer, which, ruled by warrior tyrants, plunderers, and hunters, was the cradle of the Mycenaean civilization. We will begin the visit by appreciating the Cyclopean walls, made with stones joined together without any mortar. We cross the famous Puerta de las Leonas, in which the symmetry of the forms is masterfully achieved. We thus enter the acropolis, where we can visit its palace and its circles of tombs, especially the Treasury of Atreus or Tomb of Agamemnon, the largest and most beautiful of all, with its majestic funerary chamber. We will also visit the museum of the archaeological site.
